Chanel Kim and Yanique Norman collaborate to release Les Bossip Mademoiselles, Vol. I: Book I: The Dick Warmers, a limited edition chapbook of echo-poems adapted from Norman’s blog Les Bossip Mademoiselles (lebossipmademoiselles.wordpress.com). Inspired by the comment sections of Bossip.com (a popular African American pop culture and entertainment blog), Norman began to explore removing the figure from its context through writing, a practice she is well aware of in her provocative visual art. With over 21 surrealist echo-poems, written in collaboration with Byron Simmons, she uses a combination of pedestrian, graphic, erotic, and surrealist language to convey the complicated nature of contemporary black relationships.
We offer grants from $500 to $2000 to Atlanta-area artists to encourage experimental and investigative art projects across all genres of the arts: visual art, dance, literature, performance, digital media, music, curatorial projects, critical writing, film, and video.
Application deadline will be announced this summer.
