Prism 2 is a physical theater piece by Fly on a Wall that will live inside a large gallery space. The work will be centered on and around a constructed floating stage suspended above the ground. The gravity of the structure gives the dancers a new sense of their physicality and reveals itself to be a partner in the dance.
Additionally, there will be several other performative structures made of monofilament and harp string that appear as physical manifestations of refracted light bouncing around the room. The addition of the harp string will allow the performers to play the prism as they move through the space as well as give the audience opportunity to experiment with sound during gallery hours. As the audience observes the work from different angles the refracted light from the monofilament will arc through the space and create patterns unique to the viewer's perspective. Fly continues to work with shifting and highlighting perspectives and is using the form of prisms to explore the refraction of human energy.
With focus, time and space, Fly on a Wall will change the gallery to a new theatrical environment.
