elsewhere is an experimental art concept founded in 2022 by Atlanta-born curator Anna Akpele. At its core, elsewhere nurtures a symbiotic relationship between artist and curator, with Akpele working closely alongside creatives to present exhibitions that educate, inspire, and provoke thought. The platform offers artists the freedom to explore without limitations, fostering an environment that prioritizes organic, ever-evolving programming—reflecting the fluid nature of art itself.

elsewhere operates in ways that best serve both the artists it uplifts and the communities it engages, with a mission centered on storytelling and the creation of spaces that spark ongoing dialogue. While currently based in Atlanta, elsewhere remains intentionally nomadic, adapting to wherever its presence is needed most.

Since its inception, elsewhere has showcased a diverse range of artists in unconventional spaces throughout Atlanta. Through these activations, Akpele has catalyzed conversations around complex and often polarizing subjects, creating room for meaningful exchange between artists and the public. As a 2025 Idea Capital grant recipient, Akpele will continue this mission by presenting elsewhere projects .004 and .005 in late fall 2025.
