Two-Headed Nightingales will be one video in a trilogy of works by artist Jonathan Bouknight focusing on the physical performance of subjects working through the limitations of prescribed physical handicaps. Inspired by the conjoined twins Millie and Christine McKoy (1851–1912), who were born as slaves and went on to become successful performers abroad known as The Two-Headed Nightingale, Bouknight will work with trained ballet dancers, exploring the potential for physical and psychological adaptation when the freedom of individual movement is limited.
