The Museum of Socially Engaged Art (MuSEA) is a socially engaged project that elevates conversations around art, activism, community engagement, and education in a neighborhood context. It exists within a house in Tucker – a racially, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse community in Metro Atlanta. Because of this domestic site, MuSEA is interested in what a museum can do in a neighborhood that hasn’t had a contemporary art museum before, and what a museum can mean to the people who live beside it.  MuSEA will explore civic topics relevant to the Tucker community through projects and dialogue fostered by local and national artists. Through this work, MuSEA will also redefine public art in Metro Atlanta, support a range of artists interested in activism, community engagement, and public art, and act as a resource for local community members to learn more about contemporary art directly from working artists.
